Breakfast in Bed Hotel

breakfast in bed hotel

Did you know that ‘breakfast in bed hotel’ has over a thousand searches per month on Google?   Forget about going to the hotel, make your significant other breakfast in bed at home !  This is a great DIY opportunity, and here’s how to do it.

History of Breakfast in Bed

History tells us that breakfast in bed was a luxury enjoyed by wealthy married women who had the convenience of having servants in their home. Men would begin the day having breakfast in the family room or drawing room, but women were permitted to dine in their bedrooms.  In the 1400s eating breakfast was frowned upon by the Church.  Most folks had no breakfast, a light lunch, and a heavier meal in the evening.

Even in the Victorian Era, breakfast was still seen as a wealthy privilege in England.  I will leave a link a the bottom of the page that you can explore to learn more about the history of breakfast, and breakfast in bed.  Fascinating stuff!

Do You Even Like Breakfast in Bed?

I think most people would rather avoid the crumbs and the uncomfortable seating position and possibilities of spills.  I do lol.  I can remember giving Mom breakfast in bed on Mothers’ Day, and she was dutifully enthusiastic.  Nice to be noticed, but watch out for the crumbs, they scratch!  The interesting thing is that I recall feeling that we were really spoiling Mom.  What a treat!  No idea why, but I guess we read it somewhere.

Let’s assume all folks like to be remembered, and can feign love of Breakfast in Bed.  What next?

Plan Ahead, of Course

What an opportunity to make your mate feel as special as those privileged women of the past.  Only for a day, but that is the point of Valentines Day, right!

Before our partner even swings a foot out of bed,  one of the most common and time-honored ways to begin a wonderful Valentine’s Day begins. Not only is it romantic to serve your significant other breakfast in bed, but it will also set the tone for the rest of the day.

Even though you both have full workdays and busy schedules, you can still treat her to a special breakfast a little earlier than normal. Get up and set your alarm—you’re going to prepare her a fantastic breakfast in bed!

Supper in Bed?

Not enough time in the morning?  Then how abut supper in bed?  As you both wind down from the day, the lights are dim, and soothing music is playing in the background, eating in bed can be a more romantic alternative.

Pick out some cozy (but seductive!) pajamas, climb into bed, and enjoy a romantic dinner. Make sure the environment is right by putting on fresh linens, lighting scented candles, playing soft music, and turning off the TV and phones. You want to have a private, romantic supper with your partner.

Spreading a blanket on the floor of your rec room and setting up a romantic dinner, or even lunch, could spice things up too.

The Menu

It doesn’t matter what you eat, and you can change the menu to suit your partner’s preferences. Make it last, and make sure it’s her (or his) favorite dish! Start with fruit-based finger foods like strawberries, mangoes, or raspberries. You can also include biscuits, French bread, or homemade rolls (if you’re up to the challenge!) along with cheeses and possibly a dip in the mix.

Prepare a chilled bottle of wine or champagne and fill a picnic basket with all of your favorite foods. If you’re unsure what to buy, think about buying a fruit mix wine, like strawberry wine.

If you want to properly enjoy the occasion and represent your special day, think about including a dessert. This might be anything from whipped cream and strawberries to cupcakes with sprinkles to Valentine’s biscuits.
